It will come as no surprise that you need only two ingredients for bacon-wrapped dates: fresh pitted dates and slices of smoked breakfast bacon. Allow two dates for every slice of bacon; so, if you have 20 dates, you will need 10 slices of bacon. If you are preparing bacon-wrapped dates for a large group, you could opt for, say, 60 dates and 30 slices of bacon.
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
- Halve the smoked bacon slices by cutting them in half crosswise.
- Wrap each half-slice of bacon around a date. That is why you need one slice of bacon for every two dates.
- Place the bacon-wrapped dates in a baking dish, seam-side down. Generally, fifteen minutes in the oven at 200 degrees is sufficient.
- Sometimes a little more or less time is needed to get a nice brown crust. Allow the bacon-wrapped dates a moment to cool.
